Preparing For The Harvest

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

June marks the beginning of the harvest season, making it a meaningful time to reflect on the seeds that have already been sown. Some have sown in tears, served others with the Spirit of Christ, cultivated holiness, remained steadfast in prayer, and woven holiness into the rhythm of daily life. Galatians 6:9 reminds us that no faithful seed is wasted when it is planted in obedience to God. The God who sees every hidden sacrifice, every quiet act of service, and every prayer offered in faith will bring forth a harvest in His time.

Galatians 6:9 teaches that harvest requires endurance. Paul reminds believers that doing good can become tiring, especially when the results are delayed. Yet the promise of Scripture is that faithful sowing will produce a harvest in the proper season. The believer’s responsibility is not to control the timing of the harvest, but to remain faithful in the field while trusting God’s appointed time.

Preparing for the harvest means continuing to do what is right even when immediate results are not visible. A farmer does not wait until harvest season to get ready; he prepares the soil, plants the seed, waters the ground, and keeps working while the growth is still hidden. In the same way, believers must keep praying, serving, giving, forgiving, obeying, and living with holiness while trusting God’s process. The harvest comes “at the proper time,” not always at the time we prefer.

Preparation is not only about waiting; it is also about getting ready to steward what God brings. This requires removing anything that can hinder fruitfulness, such as distraction, bitterness, fear, laziness, poor habits, or sin. It also requires preparing our hearts, schedules, finances, relationships, priorities, and character so we can manage the harvest with wisdom, humility, and faithfulness. Therefore, do not grow weary in the field, do not stop sowing because the process feels long, and do not abandon obedience because the results are not yet visible. If you remain faithful and prepared, the harvest will come in God’s appointed season.

Lord, help me remain faithful while I wait, prepare my heart for what You are bringing, and teach me to steward the harvest with wisdom and humility.
