Faith That Touches

“Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years… When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, ‘If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.’ Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up… And He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.’” Mark 5:25-34

Many people do not realize that faith often engages the human senses and expresses itself through tangible action. The woman with the issue of blood demonstrated this truth when she pushed through the crowd with the sole intention of touching Jesus’ garment. Her belief was so strong that she was convinced even that small act of contact would bring healing. This was not merely an internal conviction but a faith that moved her to act despite obstacles and opposition.

Her touch was deliberate and filled with expectation. She resolved within herself that if she could only touch His clothes, she would be made whole, revealing a faith that was active, focused, and unwavering. It was not shaped by her past suffering but by her confidence in who Jesus was. The moment she reached Him, power was released, and what years of pain could not fix was instantly transformed. Jesus responded not only to her healing but to her faith, calling her “Daughter” and restoring both her body and her identity. This shows that faith is more than belief; it is demonstrated through action, especially in moments that require courage, persistence, and trust.

In the same way, many people miss breakthrough because they hesitate to act on what they are believing God for. Faith requires movement, whether that means taking practical steps, remaining obedient, or trusting God in uncertain situations. Throughout Scripture, touch is often connected to miracles because it represents faith in action, as seen in the ministry of Jesus and even in the miracles performed through Paul. While we may not physically touch Jesus today, we are still called to pursue Him with that same determination through prayer, obedience, and surrender. When we do, we discover that God continues to respond to faith that reaches for Him, releasing His power to bring healing, restoration, and transformation.

Reflection Question

What step of faith is God calling you to take today so that you can reach out and trust Him beyond your circumstances?

Prayer

Lord, give me the kind of faith that reaches for You with confidence, knowing that Your power is able to heal, restore, and transform my life.
