Created To Be

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10


Contrary to what the atheists, naturalists, and many in the scientific community have said, creation was not an accident. We are not the result of a cosmological coincidence. God orchestrated the creation of humanity according to His Sovereign plan and omnipotent authority. He created us in His image so we can reflect His glory. Everything about humanity was carefully planned. Every strand of hair is counted, our DNA has been carefully mapped, and our organs were carefully constructed. From the color of our hair and its texture to our height, skin tone, temperament, likes, and dislikes, everything we are was carefully orchestrated.


Therefore, don’t let people make you feel as if you are a mistake. Don’t let anyone treat you as if your existence, your talents, and your interests are mistakes. You will make mistakes, but that does not mean you are a mistake. To say otherwise would imply that God made a mistake when He created you. God is too wise and holy to make any mistake. We are God’s masterpiece, ordained by God to do heavenly work.


God invested heavenly time, divine resources, and His personal touch to make you His masterpiece. Not even the angels in heaven were made in the image of God. The Almighty did not breathe His breath into the angels, and He certainly did not die for them. We have divine DNA running through our bodies. We are unique in every category. No wonder the devil hates us so much. He is a hater who is jealous of How God created us and whom He created us to be.


Unfortunately, there are still many people in the world who struggle with their identity. They do not know who they are or were created to be. So today, I want to look at whom the Bible says we were created to be.


Genesis 1:28 confirms that we were created to be stewards of God’s creation. Unfortunately, we tend to act more like predators than stewards. But the world and everything in it belongs to God. He is the landlord, and we are the tenants. A steward operates with care and reverence for the owner and his property. He does not exploit or mistreat what He is entrusted to manage. As husbands and Fathers, we are stewards. We must treat our wives and children with utmost care and uphold their dignity because they belong to God.


Ephesians 2:10 affirms we were created to do good works that God prepared for us before the creation of time. In other words, God created us to be His ministry partners. It is through us that God’s kingdom will be established on earth as it is in heaven. We are kingdom builders, ordained by God to prepare the way for the return of Jesus by doing His great commission work.


1 Peter 2:9 says we were created through Christ Jesus to be God’s chosen people, His royal priesthood, His holy nation, God’s special possession, that we may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light. That is why Paul tells us not to conform to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.


We were created to be holy. 1 Peter 1:15-16, But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” (Leviticus 11:44). The Bible teaches us how to be holy. In Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” 1 Peter 2:12, says, “Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.”


We were created to do justice: Micah 6:8 ESV- He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?


Amos 5:24 ESV- But let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Isaiah 1:17 ESV Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause.


We were created to be agents of love- 1 Corinthians 16:14 ESV Let all that you do be done in love. 1 John 4:8 ESV Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Colossians 3:14 ESV And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Prayer- Blessed Lord, thank you for creating me to be a kingdom worker, a godly steward, your royal priesthood, an instrument of holiness, and an agent of justice. May your Holy Spirit continue to enable me to live out who you created me to be.
