We now have enough evidence about the power of human touch, indeed. According to medical experts, newborns that are given nurturing touch grow faster and have more improved mental and motor skill development. Just a touch from another person sends signals to our brains which translates into feelings of security, happiness and comfort. These feelings are supported by a decrease in stress hormones and the hormone that counters stress.
As we begin the year 2022, many of us need a fresh touch from the Lord. The stress and challenges of the past year have left many people broken, wounded, mentally perplexed. Many people are struggling to live in the joy of the Lord. They have stopped smiling or looking forward to the blessings of each day.
Yet we have to challenge ourselves to find our existential sunshine in the midst of the cloud that envelops our spirits. The longer we stay in a state of despair the harder it becomes for us to walk in the renewing of our minds and in the favor of the Lord. God wants to change our perspective and give us a new beginning—one that is filled with hope and joy.
Let us, therefore, approach God’s throne of grace so we can get a fresh touch. God’s touch will do more than give us feelings of security, happiness and comfort. It will give us hope and peace. His touch will heal our physical bodies and give us mental and emotionally healing. More importantly, God’s touch will bless our souls. Then we will be able to journey with Christ with confidence, power, and sound mind.
The blind men in today’s text were hopeless. They came to Jesus because they knew Jesus was the only one who could help them. Unbeknown to them, they already had the faith to heal themselves. However, they did not know that. Jesus reminded them that he was using their faith to heal them.
God has given us all the power to achieve great things through our faith. He is willing to partner with us, but we have to take ownership of our success and fruitfulness. The Lord stands ready to give us a renewed touch in 2022. Let us not hesitate to go to Him. He will not turn us down.
We need a fresh touch from God so we can stay in touch with God. Staying in touch with God requires spiritual discipline. That type of discipline is tested daily as we go through the issues of life. But the Lord stands ready to give us His fresh touch in 2022 so we can stay in touch with Him through our ups and downs.
