Guaranteed Victory

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57

When I was in high school, I used to love watching the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) on television. Everyone in my household thought the wrestling matches we saw on TV were real. We would be rooting for our favorite wrestler to win. And no matter how beat up our hero wrestler may get, he always managed to win (most of the time). Even when the good guy loses a match, he always bounced back to reclaim his belt.

What we did not know then, or did not want to hear is that the matches were fixed. Indeed, the winner is chosen before every wrestling match. The actual match is intended to entertain viewers and fans. There is little unpredictability in wrestling, though it seems as if people win based on their own skills. Every move is choreographed, and the result is determined in advance of every match.

The same scenario is evident in our Christian journey. Believers already have the victory through Christ Jesus. That victory is guaranteed even if our spiritual enemy continues to wrestle with us trying to reverse the prefixed outcome.

You see, God already knows every move the enemy will make. There is no unpredictability to the eternal outcome of our spiritual war against the enemy. God is going to destroy him and all his demons. And because God is guaranteed to win, believers of Jesus Christ will also win.

Our victory is guaranteed. However, we will continue to wrestle with powers and principalities for as long as we are living. The enemy is not going to wave the white flag of surrender until the end. He will, in fact, win many skirmishes, though he knows he will lose the war. He simply wants to win enough skirmishes to discourage believers and make us give up on our faith and God. He knows he cannot defeat us. However, he wants to annoy us enough so we can defeat ourselves and forfeit the eternal promises we have in Christ Jesus.

Whatever we go through in life, we have to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not unto our understanding (Proverbs 3:5). After all, we know that everything will work for our good at the end (Romans 8:28). The enemy knows these scriptures as well as we do. He knows the promises that God has made to us. The fact is that the enemy cannot change or undo those promises. Therefore, he invests all his energy in deception, lies, half-truths, misinterpretation of the word of God, while investing in false prophets to lead us astray so we can surrender our eternal inheritance by not believing in the promises of God.

Believers have to go around claiming their victory every minute of every day. Whenever we feel attacked, or persecuted, or overwhelmed, or pressed on every side, or perplexed, we have to claim our victory in the name of Jesus. When our income is far less than our financial responsibilities, we have to claim the victory over our finances. Christian couples have to claim victory over their marriages. Parents have to claim victory for their children. Pastors have to claim victory over their ministry.

That declaration of victory is in line with our identity as joint-heirs with Christ Jesus. It is a prophetic warning to all demons that we will not surrender. Whenever we declare the victory in Jesus' name, we strengthen our faith and adjust our perspective so we can endure hardships without forsaking our God.

Prayer- Blessed Lord, I thank you for the victory you have given us through Christ Jesus. Please send messengers to those who are contemplating suicide, or battling depression, or struggling with loneliness, or dealing with a significant challenge in life to remind them they have the victory in Jesus name, though they are still fighting their life's battles.
